Installation
Get LingeAI up and running in under 2 minutes.
Quick Install
The fastest way to install LingeAI is from your browser's extension store.
Chrome
Recommended — Works with Chrome, Brave, Arc, Vivaldi, and other Chromium browsers.
- Open the Chrome Web Store
- Click Add to Chrome
- Confirm with Add extension
After installing, click the puzzle icon (🧩) in your toolbar, then click the pin next to LingeAI.
Edge
Best for Windows — Native integration with Windows features.
- Open Edge Add-ons
- Click Get
- Confirm with Add extension
Manual Install
For developers, testing, or when you need a specific version.
Option 1: ZIP File (Recommended)
Best for: Loading unpacked extensions in developer mode.
Step 1 — Download the extension
Step 2 — Extract to a permanent folder

The browser references these files directly. Deleting the folder will break the extension.
Step 3 — Open extensions page
Type one of these in your address bar:

Step 4 — Enable Developer Mode
Toggle Developer mode in the top-right corner.
Step 5 — Load the extension
- Click Load unpacked
- Select the folder containing
manifest.json - Done! LingeAI appears in your extensions.
You'll see a warning about developer extensions when opening browser. This is normal — just dismiss it.
Option 2: CRX File
Faster but may be blocked by Chrome security.
- Open
chrome://extensions - Enable Developer mode
- Drag the
.crxfile onto the page - Click Add extension
If you see "Cannot install from this website", use the ZIP method instead.
Download Specific Version
Replace {version} with the version number:
https://api.lingeai.com/api/download/extension/{version}?format=zip
Example: https://api.lingeai.com/api/download/extension/0.1.0?format=zip
First Steps
After installing LingeAI:

| 1 | Click the LingeAI icon in your toolbar |
| 2 | Sign up or Sign in |
| 3 | Set your native language and target language |
| 4 | Visit any webpage and double-click a word |
Your first translation will appear instantly. Words are automatically saved to your vocabulary.
Permissions
LingeAI needs these permissions to work:

| Context menus | Add right-click translation option |
We never collect browsing history or page content. All data stays on your device and your personal account.
Troubleshooting
Icon not visible?
- Check that LingeAI is enabled in
chrome://extensions - Click the puzzle icon (🧩) and pin LingeAI
- Restart your browser
Not working on a page?
LingeAI can't run on:
- Browser internal pages (
chrome://,edge://) - Extension stores
- Some restricted websites
Load unpacked missing?
Enable Developer mode first (toggle in top-right).
CRX won't install?
Chrome blocks external CRX files. Use the ZIP method instead.
